PS4 XBOX ONE OR THE CHOICE OF SOULS

With no less than seven consoles on the show, besides the outsider OUYA parked outside the show, though invisible and ubiquitous PC, E3 2013 was no doubt that of all the choices. The consumer first, with two new formats that will revive the video game market by year-end. PS4 and Xbox One already offer many titles to watch, a remarkably increased capacity as well as new ideas that will, without a doubt, fly into the heart of the players. But E3 was also illuminating the editors choice, with clearly marked preferences for certain types or media.

Conversely, one can legitimately move to the lack of real strategy for Vita, 3DS and Wii U, three platforms that seem sadly condemned to play second fiddle in the coming years, at least West. It's simple: they had never seen such a disregard for consoles as recent, and we can now believe that their fate is now up to one thread, one of their builders. Marginalized, if not released, Sony and Nintendro decide now only support these machines with first-party titles and timely and courageous business operations. Or disconnect the respirator within a year or two due to lack of opportunities.

THE CHOICE OF THE HEART

It was predictable and certainly unfair, but this is so: some publishers do anything to lure us into their home, there is only for PS4 and Xbox One of the show. In queues digging Sony and Microsoft as molehills stands, it is that the push to achieve more, shoulders hunched like a football player, the sacrosanct joystick And even if it is for Finally the nose in front of minor titles, genre Knack on PS4, it is not stingy on the elbows or strokes. We must of course remember that if the echoes of pre-E3 conferences through the thick walls of the Convention Center, the battle of next-gen consoles will not appear if simplistic once the controllers in their hands. Internet, for example, it is likely that Sony won the battle by knockout, with a few well on occasion and DRM policy judgments. On the showfloor, however, it is already less clear.

Tuesday, June 11. E3 opens its doors as a dam is broken, and vomited in a few minutes thousands of professionals in the two halls that make up the vids. At the same time, in a highly secure area, Sony leaves the first journalists access terminals PS4, proudly erect several tens of square meters. We are, finally, here we are. But then, around the owner runs short: only seven games are present, and not necessarily as glamorous as one might hope. Killzone? Impressive, but not playable. InFamous? Same. Club Drive and Knack? Playable, certainly, but far from the standards promised yesterday by Sony. Assassin's Creed IV and Watch Dogs? Successful and promising, but not playable either. Destiny? This is a video running on empty. Given the Internet, you thought the Vita had no game this at E3? You're not necessarily so far from the truth, but the laptop already has more titles exposed the future PS4.

THE CHOICE OF REASON

The reality for Sony, once the tumult fell, is a bit more mixed: if there had not been those few seconds of grace in the now famous conference Monday night, we probably would have heard more of clarity comments reserved for those who actually laid hands on the Dual Shock 4. Although the PS4 is a powerful, modern console, which already has a few titles of interest. But for a supposedly out in just six months machine, it has not justified its price.

The contrast is even more striking with the Xbox One, which itself follows a path almost opposite. Hated players and media for its Grand Guignol communication in recent weeks, the new machine yet Microsoft seems to respond on the ground game better intentions than its competitor. The demonic Titanfall, impeccable Dead Rising 3 or visually striking Quantum Break, for example, are already genuine proposals next-gen. Three exclusives already, but especially two new licenses. Scheduled to launch the machine, Forza 5, he puts the bar graph at levels that Drive Club does not even touch. Knack, by comparison, does not even sell you a PS3.

If recent history launches consoles has taught us anything, it is a line-up of quality is less than the theoretical power of a machine that the time spent by developers working on it . You will see soon that the PlayStation 4 is a more advanced console than its competitor, or the number of games on Xbox One set is greater than the catalog PS4. None of this will get you 400 or 500 euros portfolio. Within a few months, when the effect of announcements from Sony on its DRM policy subsides, perhaps then will we start to look more closely at the actual level offers PS4 and Xbox One. And at the time of checkout, who knows if you have to choose between the console you like the most and the one that put you under.
