FINDING TEDDY

At the intersection of influences Fez, Limbo, Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Finding Teddy is the latest creation of the French studio Storybird Games. Funded and published in a participatory manner with LookAtMyGame this point and touch sold as an interactive story about nightmares and wonders of childhood deserves puts his fingers as his eyes, despite its flaws.

Tarant & YO

The childish fears and imaginary worlds arising in vain be used regularly in the video game, they never really go out of style. In Finding Teddy, it is simply a matter of a little girl with the teddy bear has been stolen by the leg of a giant spider, output is not known how the wardrobe of his room at night. As it is not the type to let a arachnid appropriating his blanket, the girl rushes into the cabinet and tumbles into a world as colorful as deadly. A bit like poisonous frogs in the Amazon, with the difference that in the title of Storybird Games, frogs are friendly and sing, probably in honor of a well-known series of Nintendo. They are also the ones who will discover a major game mechanics, using ears, eyes and logic. Throughout the adventure, you will cross several animals or objects singing, he will listen to reproduce their chant in the same place or in another table - because the title is cut in this way, as many point & click.

Evrey new melody used successfully will fill a partition, appearing with a single finger swipe the top of the screen. And it is thanks to her that we can decipher the secrets of Finding Teddy, thanks to a tip we will be careful to disclose. For the rest, it will simply be to walk to the finger from one screen to the other, picking up objects to use to unlock a passage to get a companion or make their colors to gray creatures and deadly, often for another object. Nothing very complicated, even if one or two puzzles require a good sense of observation and common sense. It will however deduction foolproof (or luck) to overcome the final round, both single and twisted. However, as short (about 1:30 without collecting all the hidden orbs) the ride in the world of the cabinet of the little girl, she will stall more than a smile to discover the details embedded in the pixel art by developers.

ITS BEAUTIFUL DEATH

The tables are not many but conspicuous by their variety, animation interactions - fatal or not - are small delights in spite of their simplicity, the sprites have a special charm, although some micro-stuttering can be sometimes detected. To really enjoy the game, however, it would be better to have an iPad, both in the visual comfort of the interface more convenient to use on a large screen, especially for the partition. Fortunately, the music can be enjoyed with any iTruc long as you have good headphones, just to immerse themselves in the soundscape and pay tribute to the songs of Julien Rocca. Far from being essential but quite recommendable, Finding Teddy is a nice looking annex, not always clear and sometimes unnecessarily complex, but we take pleasure to decipher the codex.
