DEUS EX : THE FALL

It was little whammy on the heads of fans of Deus Ex in June, the loud announcement of a new episode finally had to take the direction of the iPhone and iPad and not HD consoles and PC as hoped. Deus Ex: The Fall, soon renamed The Fail some comic 2.0, yet does not lack ambition or quality. Remains whether it will be up to Human Revolution and more generally its prestigious lineage.

JUNKY BREWSTER

Good that runs parallel to the events of Human Revolution, The Fall offers an independent frame, with hero Ben Saxon, a smooth mercenary false air of Jean Reno skinny. Betrayed by his former employers, the Tyrants, our fallen man decides to take revenge by trying to update an ugly plot around a miracle anti-rejection drug, Riezene, supposed to help humans "increased". This noble quest will lead including Panama in its filthy slums where emaciated junkies waiting for death to some luxurious palace through ultra-modern complex and fiercely guarded.

The Fall interferes seamlessly into the world of Human Revolution and contains the codes and themes with some ease. Unfortunately, the staging, it remains too amorphous to properly support a lame story a bit disjointed and telephoned possible. So, is allowed to carry around from mission to mission without any real displeasure, but without passion either.

DEUS EX ARE BETTER THAN

Image of its background, The Fall also borrowed heavily to Human Revolution's futuristic aesthetic. If the implementation is obviously less flashy than HD platforms, this episode is doing terribly well for the iOS game with a record quite similar to what can be an old Xbox. The graphic of orange as Eidos Montreal is also respected Pantone close, which justifies even the membership of The Fall of the series from the first glance.

Damage that scratching a little, we discover too rigid animations and especially a lot of bugs, including tangles of polygons well grimey or details that make this task as NPC behave like depotted plants. More annoying, the game sometimes crashes unexpectedly, but we can hope for once that this sort of troubles will be set to run through some updates.

THE RISE AND THE FALL

One could logically fear adaptation of Deus Ex touch screen, but the work of n-Fusion is exemplary. One touch of the most advanced automated controls with virtual sticks, The Fall leaves the player to choose how to handle Ben to lower investment interface element. The effort is worthwhile and effective, in any case, as we do not have to get his gun. There is a story that starts a different strand.

Because in good Deus Ex, The Fall offers significant freedom of action and always many ways to approach the same situation, many paths to take, several outreach strategies. Digging around the PC in the hope to find the code for a locked door, moving boxes to find a vent to bypass the guards, hack a lock or simply out his gun and talk to the powder , the choices never fail. Obviously, for many of them, our "increases" will be tapped as Ben gains experience and therefore can upgrade a lot of parts of its body to discover or improve their skills (heavy lifting, become invisible a few seconds, smash some walls, etc..).

But due to a targeting system capricious and approximate the brutal way often lead to a bloody and frustrating stalemate. Basically, the fights are rather pitiful and so we tend to fall back on the default discrete approach to avoid problems. Of course, this is the way that naturally choose many players, but it's still a shame to end up with a gameplay and atrophied. Especially since the infiltration part is not free from kinks. The I. A. In particular, a goldfish memory and is unable to mount a floor. In such conditions, it is doing generally quite easily, especially as the field of view of 45 ° enemies can sneak up behind them without difficulty. But be careful, even if the difficulty is suddenly not very high, the game has only one backup location and there will strongly advise you to be careful when you choose to save your part to avoid unpleasant surprises.

BE THE HARDEST FALL

The Fall stumbles just turn on a lot of stones, large and small. Yet his adventure of a half-dozen hours really managed to recreate the universe and atmosphere Deus Ex iDevice. We find the same sense of freedom in our actions as well as in the development of our heroes and the heady feeling when foiled with deceit as security level or you get rid of an enemy like a bastard. Browse right to left to find the best route, study the round guards crouched silently behind a piece of scenery, yes, The Fall allows this. Even if it is unbalanced and imperfect, it is quickly tempted to excuse some of his mistakes, because the key is there.
